...and another plonker fined ...

October 6, 2021 5:10 PM

Wiltshire Council has issued a £400 Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) for fly-tipping to a Devizes resident, who dumped household waste on the former slaughterhouse land on the corner of Coate Road and Windsor Drive, Devizes. This is the second £400 fine issued in recent months for people dumping at this location.

As the land is privately owned, the council has been in communication with the landowner, and has served a S.59 Notice under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 that compelled the landowner to clear their land of waste and take steps to prevent further fly-tipping. The landowner has since cleared their land and is working with the council to erect 'No fly-tipping' signage and restrict access.

The dumper cannot be named as a FPN is not a conviction in court.
