WC U-turn on Furlong Close

May 24, 2021 8:32 PM

More mysterious goings-on at Wiltshire Council as it tries to justify its actions at Furlong Close, which as regular readers will know is a care home and supported living facility for people with a learning disability and/or autism or mental health conditions.

WC has been conducting a tender process to find an alternative provider of services at Furlong Close following the withdrawal of previous providers HfT.

It now says it's chosen to abandon the procurement as there has been "a change in economic and factual circumstances."

It hasn't though explained what the facts are that have suddenly changed, or indeed the economics.

So a new procurement exercise is to be carried out. This, claims WC, "would be expedient and in the public interest."

WC goes on to assure us that "all people at Furlong Close will continue to receive the care and support they need.

The Conservative Cabinet member responsible for adult social care is Jane Davies.
