New mapping system to help road users

March 1, 2020 8:53 PM

Wiltshire Council Highways have teamed up with market leader Elgin, to improve the way they monitor, communicate and analyse traffic disruptions, such as road closures and diversion routes, public events and incidents.

Highlights of the Elgin's mapping system known as one.network include:

  • A clearer display format, showing the works promoter and traffic management type, at a glance.
  • Integrated google street view direct from the map page
  • The ability to sign up for personal email alerts, where you can be notified of roadworks that affect a particular area or route of interest.
  • Live incidents feeds direct on the map layer from a variety of sources inc. Google, TomTom and Waze live traffic
  • The ability to integrate additional operational data layers to enable better planning of works by utilities and contractors

You can check the updated Road Closures and disruptions webpage at http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/highways-road-closures . This gives access to the new look map format together with 'How to' guides and other relevant information, and allows you to set up personalised email alerts.
