Tisbury residents have unanimously opposed Wiltshire Council Conservatives in their plan to introduce parking charges to the village. The consultation on the proposals has now closed, and the WC cabinet will make a final decision later in the year.

Wiltshire Councillor for Melksham South, Jon Hubbard, has launched a campaign to save Melksham Library after the Conservative Administration in County Hall announced a consultation exercise which proposes closing the popular town centre resource in favour of an out-of-town complex to be located by the new Melksham Oak Community School.

Conservative-controlled West Wiltshire Council in its final years repeatedly hit the national headlines for being excessively pedantic over the way bins were collected. There were stories about bin men refusing to take bins which couldn't be moved with two fingers, or which were placed too far from the kerb, or which were left on dangerous gravel surfaces.
